Date of passing: 7 Jun 2016 About our Alumni:John Charles Hastings passed away peacefully June 7, 2016, at his home in North Plains at the age of 67. He was born Nov. 4, 1948, in Chicago, the only child of John and Lucille Hastings. His adolescence was spent in Park Ridge, Ill. He graduated from Maine Township High School South June 8, 1966. John joined the U.S. Army in December 1967 and served until August 1971, most of that time was spent in Germany working with the missiles. He loved the German countryside and in 1977 he decided to relocate to Oregon as it reminded him so much of Germany. He fell in love with the great Northwest and spent the remainder of his life in Oregon. John met the love of his life, Raven, and they were married Jan. 14, 1984. They spent their years together enjoying their horses and time with family. The majority of his career years were in the electronics industry and he was also a talented machinist. His greatest joy was riding his Harley and he had a deep love for his family and home. He was a kind man with a big heart and a great laugh. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.John is survived by his wife, Raven; stepson, Ralph Reese and wife, Kolette; son, Ken Spietz, wife, Trisha, and children, Marisa, Kennedy and Braden; daughter, Anne Everaert, husband, Ken, and son, Kenan; daughter, Alyssa Hastings and Jake Sandoval; mother-in-law, Dorothy Beck; and granddogs, Isis, Raja and newest buddy, Athena. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucille Hastings; and grandparents, Michael and Philomena Sabatino. |
