Dr. Robert A. Flowers passed away on March 16, 2016, from a long term illness in Omaha, NE. Robert was born in Chicago, IL., on Aug. 19, 1954. Robert graduated Maine Township High School South of Park Ridge, IL., in 1972. He attended the University of Illinois, Chicago, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1975 and then his medical degree in 1979. Robert completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the Gunderson Clinic, Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI., in 1982. Robert received post graduate training at the University of Otago Medical School, Dunedin, New Zealand, specializing in gastroenterology and geriatrics from 1982-1983. In 1984, Robert moved to Rock Island and started his medical practice of over 30 years. Robert held medical licenses in the state of Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin and was a member of the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American College of Physicians. In addition Robert was medical director of Trinity Pathway Hospice from 1998 to 2016, chairman of the Institutional Review Board at Trinity Medical Center from 1994 to 2010 and medical director of the memory clinic at Robert Young Center at Trinity Medical Center, Moline, from 1998 to 2016. Robert had a passion for gardening and loved to travel when time allowed. Robert was a dedicated doctor, son, brother and uncle and true friend to many. He is survived by both his parents, Anthony and Harriet Flowers; his brother, Dale and wife, Stella, and their two daughters, Erica and Alison; his brother, Jeff, and wife, Cheryl, and daughter, Melissa, and son, Michael.
